Behind the Myth
The story of Abbad Allawi
“Beyond photography, I am a natural story teller. Ready to capture your moment and your imagination.”

An honest story
My story begins in a place of turmoil, where the landscape of Iraq was etched with the scars of conflict. The war tore my family apart, setting us on a journey across the globe in search of safety and a place to call home. From the streets of Cairo to the neighborhoods of London, and from the vastness of the United States to the serene corners of Canada, each stop along the way added to the mosaic of my life. Yet, this constant movement made it difficult to ever truly settle, to feel rooted, or to embrace the comfort of long-term connections.
But as I grew and the world unfolded before me, I began to see the beauty in my journey. I realized how deeply fortunate I was—fortunate to have walked through such diverse cultures, each one leaving an indelible mark on my soul. Fortunate to come from one of the world’s most ancient civilizations, a heritage that shaped my identity. Fortunate to have a family that encouraged my curiosity and never clipped my wings. Fortunate, too, to never know true want, and to always find myself surrounded by a community that uplifted me.
I am a jack of all trades, driven by an insatiable curiosity and a desire to master as much as I can. But more than learning for myself, I find profound joy in teaching and empowering those who are eager to grow.
My journey into digital art began in the mid-90s with the original Macintosh and Dell Dimension R400, tools that ignited a lifelong passion. Photography, however, was something I dabbled in only casually, capturing moments on the mobile phone always within reach. It wasn’t until the world came to a standstill during the COVID pandemic that I truly immersed myself in the craft. With my first DSLR, a Sony A7III, in hand, photography became more than a hobby—it became a powerful means of expression.
My story may not be exceptional, but it is honest. I do not claim to be the best, as the best is a privilege reserved for the eye of the beholder. My photography reflects my journey, from the humble beginnings of my early work to the more sophisticated pieces I create today. I invite you to follow this evolution, as each image tells a story of learning, persistence, and passion.
Most importantly, the people I work with are not just clients; they are friends who enrich my life.
